Basic Chronology of the rebuild.

May 2003

 

Decided on a name to use - Team Pinnacle
Visit to Tony Thompson to decide on the order of the rebuild and to talk through what I want for/from the car.
Left the diff and rear uprights for the conversion to Tony's splined drive shafts.
June 2003

 

Major spending - Chassis, suspension, drive shafts....... The list goes on...
Also left LSD Diff and the magnesium alloy wheels with Tony Thompson
August 2003 Collected Wheels and Diff
Test fit of suspension parts
Sept. 2003 Spacers made for suspension - front & rear
Dec. 2003 Fibreglass work on body.
January 2004 Engine sent away to Racing Fabrications - care of Tony Thompson
March 2004 Collected Engine from Tony Thompsons
April 2004 Attended Harewood Speed HIllclimb - to check latest regulations - Spoke to chief scrutineer.
Aluminium dash, start of rolling chassis build-up
May 2004 Hoosier tyre contact - Great tyre deal from Martin Lamb on a set of slicks
June 2004 Gearbox rebuilt by TTR - questions over depth of syncromesh on 1st an 2nd
July 2004 Alloy dash completed, Dry sump tank relocated to n.s. bulkhead, Handbrake rebuilt with modified actuating arm.
Spoke with Barry 'Wizzo' Williams about the project - He wants a drive when completed !
August 2004 Body away for a repaint.
January 2005 Body back from painters
March 2005 Suspension set-up
Spring 2005 Car now ready to race
Summer 2005 One Hillclimb at Harewood and two Drag races at York
Winter 2005 Oil drained, new fire extinguisher fitted for 2006 seasons regulations
March 2006 New set of slicks and old set 'grooved' to be used as 'wets'
April 2006 Oil changed, reverse lock-out fitted, Engine retuned (smaller pump jets fitted to the carbs)
April  2006 Second season starts
Autumn 2006 Engine and gearbox removed for inspection and upgrades
Winter 2006/7 Fit Quaife 'Dog' box and a lighter clutch pack
April 2007 Third season starts
2007 Season Good season even though I hate the 'Dog' box - too notchy for me !
Winter 2007/8 Remove 'Dog' box - return to ultra close ratio syncro box with racing internals. Fit new front & rear anti-roll bars. Move battery and fire extinguisher further to the rear of the car. lightweight bonnet and boot. 'plastic' rear screen.
2008 Season Much more confidence with the syncro box.
