The Rebuild - Roll Cage

Strip Down    Chassis    Running Gear    Engine    Bodywork

I had removed the interior trim and the pedals before offering-up the Safety Devices roll cage.
This was not a straight forward operation. The side intrusion bars have to fit inside the sills and to do this, a hole has to be cut in the bodywork inside the lower end of the rear wheel arch - once completed the hole can be covered over.
Inside the car looking backwards to the wheel arch - the sill strengtheners can be seen.
Outside the car looking forwards into the wheelarch

To determine the exact lengths of the side intrusion bars is, again, not easy. By cautiously cutting off a little at a time an accurate fit can be obtained, so that the roll cage can mate up to the bends in the side bars. Once this has been achieved, the rest is straightforward. The whole cage was then removed so that further work could be carried out inside the car.
